DVD SET #1 Testimonials
My husband, John, just got your DVD's yesterday. I have to tell you how impressed I am with all of the detailed "science" of goaltending in them. I have listened to Parks ad nauseum courtsey of my son. Your DVD's are amazing!
I am interested in your mini-clinics, specifically a one-day clinic. My son, Matt, will be 25 in May. He still lives and breathes goaltending. If it is something I can afford, I would like to surprise him. Sometime in the fall would probably work well, before the season gets totally started.
Thanks for the info.

Both my sons are goalies and the information presented in the videos is very helpful. Some of the training is a review for them, some of the videos are things they may know but are presented in a new way and a lot of the information are things they have never been exposed to. I would recommend these videos to any goalies.
Thank you very much.

I bought the DVD set and I can't tell you how satisfied I am.
I am a goaltender but have never been coached in that position, and now that my son is a goaltender I was searching for tricks and drills to learn him what I,m doing by instinct (I'm his coach).
I really appreciate your DVD set and encourage you to do a second one(if it's possible to do better...)
Regards.
Steve
I had a chance to watch the entire DVD on Sunday. My opinion is that it is
with out a doubt the most comprehensive, well put together, and easiest to
understand (for all ages) program that I have seen yet.
I know that you are the type of guy that appreciates honest constructive
criticism, but I really couldn't find a single thing that I could be
critical of... You have created a training tool that is beyond compare
with anything else available. You have, without a doubt, set a new
standard in goaltending instruction.
Very well done....
Terry
I just finished watching the Future Pro DVD for the first time.
For any New Goalie, I highly recommend it. The DVD is broken down into 18 chapters that are focused on a single aspect of goaltending. This is great because you can watch the section repeatedly without needing to sift through the things you don't want to focus on. Each section is short and to the point, only a few minutes each. At first run it felt like the section went by too fast, didn't cover enough. I realized is that the segments are short, but contain immense amounts of information. The fact that they are short allows you to watch them again and put them not only to memory, but to habit easier.
It is especially great for kids. The dvd has three different age/size goalies that are very good representations of squirts, bantam, and midget sized goalies. I showed the video to a squirt and it really helped him understand how challenging a shooter makes a small goalie look bigger. It was a concept that he understood in theory, but its completely different seeing a video of a similar sized goalie... especially with puck view camera angle they use at times in the video.
Which brings me to another point, while the camera work is clearly a few years old, it offers some very compelling view points and perspectives. Seeing the goal and the goalie from the view of the puck helps you to better understand how the puck ‘grows eyes’ and finds those little holes you thought you had closed.
Back to viewing it as an adult (I'm 26, recently picked up Ice goalie after years of skating out in ice and roller and moonlighting as a goalie in roller/ball), while the video is geared more towards youth, I found this video to be absolutely every bit as good/important/useful for a new adult goalie. I was particularly pleased with the section on coaching. It not only will help me with helping the squirts, but it also gives you as a goalie a good perspective for what a coach should be looking to do with you and get from you.
The fine print: I am not, in anyway, affiliated with the DVD or anyone who sells the DVD. I am simply an avid hockey nut learning to strap 'em on.

DVD SET #2 Testimonials
The new No Rebounds DVD series 5-8 needs to be on your list of must buy DVD’s, and I would recommend it to any youth hockey organization. The next few posts will explain why.
First, your narrator http://www.sportsnet.ca/bios/bowen_joe/# Holy Mackinaw!
Secondly, I am not sure of the nature of the film crew, but they know how to film goaltenders.
Now to the actual DVDs.
DVD Number 5 – The New Game
This is a key DVD in the series. It takes what we know, and have known for years, and transforms it to the way the game is played today. This is the transition disk for much of the material in DVD series 1-4. If you are a coach who grew up watching the game the way it used to be played, this is the opportunity to update your coaching tool box.
Stance strategies are discussed. The applications of different stances are discussed, along with modern movements.
Breakaway techniques are discussed and applicable shootout strategies are included. (Remember the first series was published before the shootout era really evolved.)
Other elements of today’s games are discussed as well.
There are a number of statements that are made that if you jot them down, you can take them to the rink with you and use them in practice. As an example, ‘When the puck makes contact with the goalies stick it should not…….’ Now I have something to watch during any youth practice, during specific drills and/or scrimmage situations. It will be one of the techniques I use this season, review a DVD, capture a concept and apply it that night or for that week’s practices.
I’m sure it will be asked, ‘Do I need DVD’s 1 through 4 for DVD Number 5 to be effective?’
It depends, if you have a base of knowledge you may get the full effect of 5, but 1 through 4 would give you the foundation you need to ensure success. If you have a limited knowledge or are relatively new to the position, I highly recommend 1 through 4. I am torn on the issue of, ‘if I can only buy one series which one should I get?’, on one hand 1 through 4 will lay an excellent goaltending foundation, but DVD Number 7, is so strong with drills I would hate to see someone miss out on it.
I will likely be asked, ‘If DVD number five transitions me into the modern game, why do I need to 1 through 4?’ The answer is knowledge, I am a big believer in ‘you have to know a lot before you realize how much you don’t know’ DVD 5 transforms knowledge from 1 through 4 it does not eliminate it
DVD Number 6 “Control”
How often have you heard Keeks say, the beer leagues are filled with goalies that can stop the puck but did not control it”? Hint – you will hear it in this DVD series.
This DVD brings that axiom alive. It is the most cerebral DVD of the series, which might explain why the real young goalies didn’t pay as much attention as the other DVD’s.
It is the DVD that explains the when, where, why of position, puckhandling, and game anticipations/reactions, high percentage saves versus low percentage saves.
Situational analysis is discussed throughout the entire DVD. In my opinion it is the proper lead into the next DVD. If DVD 6 discusses why?, DVD shows how.
DVD Number 7 – “Extra Drills”
This DVD is why my review has been delayed. I viewed the entire DVD and by the end of the DVD I had forgotten what was at the start of the DVD.
The layout of the drills is logical, from movement, to recovery, to rebound control, and advancing to game situations. Likely, I could use the drills in that order at the start of each season.
The movement drills are not confined to only those that occur in/around the crease, ehich makes the movement series more comprehensive than anything else available on the market.
While we have discussed post leg up, it comes to life on this DVD, particularly moving into and out of.
Included is a Nabakov drill, and a Tretiak drill (you will have to see for yourself).
The DVD includes not just one wrap drill but a series of wrap drills each one building upon the previous drill.
The game situation drills pull all of what I have discussed about DVD Number 7 together.
The conditioning drills have Ed Belfour written all over them. Need I say more!
There are tons of puckhandling drills.
And I cannot forget the prop drills, it brings the props from the Mitch Korn website to life!
This is a really important section of the DVD. Here’s why, the props will enable an average hockey parent to help train goalies. This might not apply at the most elite levels, but for many youth hockey organizations, the props will handicap/challenge/confuse a typical youth goalie to the point that a blast from the point or Joe Sakic release is not required to make the goalie work hard.
DVD Number 8 – “Extra Dryland”
Number 8, contains a Dynamic Warmup section that Jack Blatherwick would be proud of.
This DVD contains a heavy dose of Plyometrics, and stresses the prerequisites that should be in place before/during a plyo workout.
There are drills for abc ladders, medicine balls, and plyo boxes. Some of the drills appear to have a European heritage.
In addition the GoalerOne slideboard makes an appearance, with specific references to “stick discipline”
Also discussed on this DVD is how to get the most out of a youth hockey pre-game warmup.
I find this DVD highly useful. Here’s why, have you ever heard parents clamor for more ice time for their youth hockey team? I hear it all the time, but the reality Is that ice is limited, and if there was an opportunity for more ice, it would cost a number of families out of the sport. This DVD offers a solution; I tell our parents that off-ice work presents a huge opportunity for improving our players.
I could also take DVD 8, and apply it to forwards and defensemen (defencemen to those north of the border), and would expect non-goalie requests for this DVD as a standalone product.
I hesitate to give such a glowing review since there are some who won’t believe it, I would ask you again to investigate how often I praise a product in the manner I have praised this DVD series.
I am not paid nor do I work for FuturePro/NoRebounds, although after seeing this body of work I wish I did.
Brennan just came back to my place last night - after his game last night we were talking more about the DVD's (we were catching the Nashville game to see Danny play). Brennan really enjoyed the bloopers - we can all relate to those.
We watched #5 and #6 on Sunday afternoon - he REALLY enjoyed them. What I believe he found most useful with #5 was the use of more recent transformations in save selections and explanations of when/how to use. We have been working on this development in several areas - with the DVD's it's great to play back sequences so the repetitive quality enhances the detail of any particular sequence - usually he watches for particular save selections at junior games we go to but it is so fleeting it's hard for him to follow the whole sequence.
With #6 he is already VERY astute about puck control especially with rebound control - either not giving up any or direction away from the net - he watched back several parts over and over around technique and positioning - as he is a visual kid - he was practicing some of the positioning and movement as he watched both DVD's - it's great to see a kid really get into something like this. He would like the Junior B goalie that his coach has had out with him see the part about not using the stick to direct the puck into your body - Brennan has a very good stick and reads the direction of shot for interception and deflection very well - he doesn't direct the shot back into his body as Matt as shown him. Brennan brought that up again this morning watching NHL on the Fly from the Washington game last night as the goalie redirected it into his net when he tried to catch it into his glove.
He is in a tournament this weekend - so he'll see the other two next weekend and look over #5 and #6 again. I'll look them over this weekend - I have him on the ice next Friday morning for an hour session so he wants to try some new drills.
If you want - I can send a brief overview of my observations after I see the next two. I really enjoyed them - great camera angles and view of the set-up leading to the shot - save - and completion instead of some of the other DVD's/tapes we've seen that only show the puck going to the goalie and then him standing there alone after the puck leaves the viewing area. Technique and explanation were well developed but not too lengthy - allows one to focus upon the intent of the situation with positioning, technique, recovery.
Having gone through the set once I agree that there is way to much to digest in one viewing. I have started to run through certain parts again and am finding more and more "hidden nuggets" of info which I have in turn been able to use with the two 11 year old goalies I am working with. If you are a goaltending coach this set is a must have but be prepared to spend the time to go through it again and again to get the maximum benefit.
I'm looking forward to a pizza night with my goalies to go over a couple of the dvds in depth then watch an NHL game to put things in context.
Thanks Keeks for putting in the hours needed to make such a strong teaching aid.
I've had a chance to watch all the goalie training videos on the market and there are some good products available. Having said that, none of them approach the production quality, camera angles, narration, depth and breadth of content and scope of Keeks new series. Simply put, they are second to none. I believe this is the best goalie training series presently on the market.
Narrated by celebrated Leafs announcer Joe Bowen, Volume 5 deals with "The New Game". Keeks delves into advances in the game since his first DVD series and shows new save techniques including the post leg up and the Euro breakaway saves, amongst others. Explanations are clear, concise and include limitations when to use the techniques.
Volume 6 discusses what Keeks terms "Control Elements". In this DVD he gives in depth views regarding puck possession puck handling, rebound control development and positional control. These three goaltending control elements form the foundation for success and are key elements to playing your best.
Volume 7 is the "Extra Drills" DVD and as the name implies there are over 200 new goaltending drills demonstrated in awesome picture quality. For anyone seeking teachning methods this will be a godsend.
Volume 8 is the "Extra Dryland" video that goes deep into showing the types of dryland work used by professional goalies. For serious goalies this video is a must own and will help you develop the core strength needed to succeed.
There's also a section in each video called Keeks' Korner, a Q&A session that answers the most common questions he receives from goalies and their parents. Well worth watching to gain some solid insights.
Last, but not least, is a Blooper section with some good outtakes and funny scenes that demonstrate nobody is perfect.
Picture quality is standard definition but I honestly think it is as good as full HD. I played the videos using my Sony PS3 on an HD tv and it was perfect... I can't imagine how sharp the full HD version will be. My advice is not to wait, the standard definition is really, really good.
I look forward to any discussion on these disks. If anyone has any questions just ask and I will do my best to answer. The disks can be purchased directly from Keeks at Future Pro Goalie School
